    Open source PACS deployment principles
PACS is an image server. In order to use these images, the radiologist must have a real IRM and Radio Scanner station on a daily basis and respond to changes in the radiologist profession:
A PACS network consists of a central PACS server, which stores a database containing the images, and one or more stations that can extract and display these images on medical imaging software.

    Composition of the solution
A server, ordinary and virtualizable to maintain performance and facilitate its maintenance. It can be installed on cluster for fault tolerance.
Storage is on a SAN disk array. The backup is done by duplication.
Visualization stations: computer with visualization software such as OSIRIX or remote web mode (WEASIS solution).
    OSIRIX: Workstation visualization
    - Visualization and reconstruction of 3D images.
    - Tele-interpretation and tele-shift: Binomial radiologist / manipulator on main site and on the device site.
    - Dissemination of images to correspondents (pulmonologists, cardiologists, rheumatologists, city doctors ...) directly and / or via the DMP.

WEASIS: Visualization through an internet browser
    - The image becomes a URL (web address)
    - Visualization from home in the respect of the security conditions
For a small establishment (200 beds), production is around 2.5 TB / year in DICOM images and around 20 GB / year for the database (Post-greSQL).
The images stored in this way are available for exploitation and can be disseminated both internally on the network of the institution and externally to allow the sharing of medical data in the context of requests for expertise or pooling of radiological permanence on a territory.
